I got my PhD in 1995 at university of Bath, UK, I worked for Microsoft for around 15 years, mostly at Microsoft Research, doing computer vision, signal processing, augmented reality, machine learning, deep learning, feature extraction, real time vision, SLAM, robotics. I contributed a lot of core image/video tech to Windows and Media Player. I spent over 2 years also doing iOS development. I also work a lot with hardware and love control systems and robotics. I'm also a physics geek. I am always into hardware, real time video, control, sensors and machine intelligence, and doing stuff with Linux, bare metal ARM, and ATMEL chips, and building my own hardware.
