Got into web development in my mid 20s from the business side -- I launched an e-commerce business and learned web development as I went along (Wordpress).

Then a second e-commerce business (Magento).

Then worked for a couple years with a cardiologist's small team developing web, iOS, and Android apps to help MDs diagnose patients.

Then started working for my current employer as a Front-End Developer in the e-learning industry. I've had the opportunity to move into the role of Software Engineer, responsible for migrating old single-server applications to AWS Beanstalk, setting up a new Oauth2 API for internal and public consumption, implementing a pub-sub design pattern utilizing AWS SQS around this new API for our applications, and building new big data crunching Apache Spark clusters for large data imports, validations, and reporting.
