comment Is there a name for a "moving meridian" corresponding to particular solar time?
The only line I can think of is the terminator, which is the line that separates day from night.

Candles are more of a fire hazard than electric light bulbs

comment What is the best solution to climate change based on scientific evidence?
I was under the impression, managing refrigerants was more about reducing the impact on ozone levels than global warming (climate change).

comment When was it ever considered that the desert might be "man-made", or otherwise anthropocenically-induced?
I can recall a conversation I had in the late 1970s when an unsubstantiated & dubious claim was made that the ancient Roman were responsible for the desertification of the Sahara. However, I wonder how people who claim anthropocenic creation of deserts explain other deserts like the Gobi, Kalahari, Negev, & the ones on the US, South America, India, central Asia & Australia.

comment What are the phenomenon (artificial and natural) in play in this photograph "350m beneath Berezniki in Russia"?
The second picture is interesting; it indicates how the potash was mined & that the potash is thick. The lumpy foreground seems at least 4 to 5 m above the floor in the rear the picture. There are two people wearing white hard hats in the lower central part of the picture - one is wearing orange overalls & the other blue. The curved hole in the wall, left of center is reproduced at the back of the picture. The track of circular scoring on the wall in the left of the picture is reproduced at the back
