Pompey, NY

My real name is Terry McConnell. I am Professor of Mathematics, Emeritus, Syracuse University. My mathematical interests include martingales and probability more generally, harmonic and complex analysis, and string combinatorics. Outside of mathematics I am interested in programming in C, Swift, and Bourne Shell. Also human languages, especially Gaelic, Latin, and Mohawk, since these all bear upon my roots. (Okhariatane is the Mohawk word for mosquito.) I was a competitive runner, now a (non-competitive) walker. I enjoy gardening and dogs, and have a golden retriever named Chara, after the star Beta Canum Venaticorum. I also maintain an approximately 2 mile long section of the Finger Lakes Trail.
