I have been doing structured markup in one form or another for going on 30 years. I am a founding member of the DITA Technical Committee and continue to be an active participant, currently working hard on DITA 1.3, a founding member of the XML Working Group. I was co-editor (with Steve Newcomb and Dr. Charles Goldfarb) of ISO/IEC 10744:1996, HyTime Version 2. I participated in the development of XSL-FO 1.1. For most of the last 10 years I have focused my work as an XML practitioner on the application of DITA to the business and technical challenges of Publishers, through the DITA for Publishers open-source project. I am the author of the DITA book DITA for Practitioners, Vol 1 (Volume 2 is in the process of being written).
I study the Japanese martial art Aikido, skateboard, and snowboard when I have the chance.
