are you running this code on windows? IIRC, the input function on windows doesn't remove the '\r' (carriage return). I don't have access to A windows computer to test, but add print repr(name) before the end of the loop and see if it looks like 'n\r'. If if does you will need to do name.rstrip() to remove the stray carriage return

it looks like git command is hanging. try running GIT_TRACE=1 git status and see if that shows anything?

comment Phpmyadmin on PHP5 doesen't work on Ubuntu Server
you say you installed php5 and php7? Why both? Do you have some other requirement for php5? Just uninstall php5, and activate php7 and you should be good (Assuming package version is > 7.1.3).

comment Get my local IP address and subnet mask of the network via Python
the problem is your Computer has multiple network adaptors and multiple addresses. the 169 is on a virtual interface to use for pcap. You can use something like ifaddr from pip to list all of them.

another option would be to use rstrip() to remove the \r from the end of the line.

Hmm \r is a carriage return. What operating system are you running on? and are you running the file via VScode, or via CLI/Termina/CMD. Short answer is that I am guessing you are using Windows.\r\n is standard windows EOL, whereas unix uses\n. raw_input is stripping the the newline, but the carriage return., and I am not sure why

I've not been able to repro this in REPL. but try using print repr(text) to see what exactly is in the string

comment SMTP: overwriting "From" field makes the email go to spam on port 465, but not on 25
So the application is running on a new server (ISP). This ISP blocks outbound 25, so you need to use 465 with your outbound relay server? Do you have access to the headers from a message that is getting marked as spam? Is there any indication of why the receiving server is marking it as spam. Does your application send the mail directly or does it use an MTA on the server to send the mail? I wonder if the new IP your server is running on has bad reputation and receiving sites are doing lookups further down the received path.

comment SMTP: overwriting "From" field makes the email go to spam on port 465, but not on 25
This is 100% server dependent. The act of changing from 25 -> 465 on the same server shouldn't change anything, unless the server changes how it accepts/signs the mail. SSL in this case is only used at the transport layer, and shouldn't effect mail content. Are you using SMTP auth? Does the from address have SPF records published? Does the sending mail server support DKIM? Is the mail signed. Is it possible that the Mail server got on a blacklist and the change from 25->465 is bad timing?
