I'm an elderly senior software engineer (programmer). If elderly is redundant to senior, then please know it's possible to be senior without being elderly. Alas, I'm characterized by both words.

I've "worked" in software development since 1961! Then, computers were rare, huge, and weak. I loved the work. I've continued past my 70th birthday, working as an independent contractor, although I've ratcheted down to parttime. My day job in this millenium has mostly been enterprise J2EE feature development and maintenance. My off-hours play involves other, more modern languages, frameworks, and environments.
