I am currently a high school student, however, I wish I could skip straight to graduate school! I have been very passionate about synthetic organic chemistry and have taken a few classes in it at my local university along with studying it independently. I have been working on a total synthesis project of the molecule Lindbergin E for the past few months. I am currently writing up all of the procedures and purchasing all of the chemicals necessary, as I will start laboratory work on my project in January of 2020. I am using this project to explore a new fascinating asymmetric phloroglucinol derivative that has not yet been synthesized. I am looking to first try and publish a paper on using a ketene equivalent Diels-Alder reaction to synthesize this new core. I hope to continue from that point and possibly use my previous findings to publish a paper on the total synthesis of Lindbergin E.
