Obviously I am a metal obsessed Koala.
The last programming class I took used compile Basic on an HP3000 mini-computer, on which I got bored learning Pascal. I decided then, in 1986, that coding was not for me. I have regretted that decision ever since.
I first installed Linux on a 68k Macintosh via about 8962 CD's I got from the Debian peeps. I managed to get it up and running, not only the command line, but also the window manager "Black Box." Remember that baby? Not long after I installed a much more stable version on an Indigo iMac. This also worked. About that time Apple released the first public beta of OSX so I switched to that and stopped bothering with Linux. I used that until recently, when Apple has really started to piss me off with their software, and more importantly, their hardware. 35 freakin' years of Apple computers, down the drain. They lost me.
I just bought a System76 Oryx Pro and have been experimenting with different Linux flavors. So far, Elementary is the hands-down favourite. There's been some problems with the 4k display, but mostly things are working out. A few little problems here and there.
Other than that, I work in Portland Oregon, which I hate. I live right across the river in Vancouver Washington, which I quite like. I would like to move back up the Columbia River Gorge where I used to live, but there's just not much work up there.
I've been doing CNC metal fabrication now for longer than I care to admit. On the side I'm a free-lance Graphics Designer, page layout artist, and general graphics bum. I write pretty decent science fiction (when I finish anything) and have a predilection for being annoying on internet forums.
Sometimes I sleep.
