comment API to retrieve info about famous people
no solution here, I ended up getting the info I needed manually and saving it locally in a custom format.

comment Windows 8.1 Store App: Lifecycle Foreground vs Background
so it appears that the onnavigatedfrom event fires when I switch views, but it doesn't fire when I alt-tab to a different application, is there such an event that fires when I switch my app to the background?

thanks I did think of this, but was wondering if there was some built in way to do it. I'll try this and report back!

comment Is moving a CSS file between .NET servers difficult?
that's definitely unusual and far too long, but also difficult to pinpoint. I would start with this checklist: sitefinity.com/blogs/team-blog/2012/12/19/… as well as adding a blank, fresh Sitefinity site to your server and see if an empty site does the same. If it does it has to be an issue with your host/server. hope this is helpful!

comment Uri.OriginalString is encoded in IIS 8.5
I don't know what this is and that article is way over my head but thanks! I ended up fixing this by using "AbsoluteUri" instead of "OriginalString", but this was good to discover, thanks again for posting the source.

restart will indeed take a few moments, depending on how many modules you have installed. I've seen it take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, but it really depends on your setup. good luck!

comment How to get a ListBox ItemTemplate to stretch horizontally the full width of the ListBox?
this works GREAT for ListView in Windows 8.1 XAML, I couldn't get my grid inside the data template to stretch until I tried this, thank you for sharing!

comment Rogue Widgets from Sitefinity
it depends; if the widget is on the page but the files for the widget are deleted, then you will get an exception because the page is expecting the widget to be there. on the page backend, it should indeed notify you and give you the opportunity to delete the widget. if you load the frontend page but the widget doesn't exist, unfortunately Sitefinity just crashes. just the way it is for now...

where do you see this error, on a page? if you open the page in the backend editor do you see the widget there or does that page crash as well? what if you open the page template that defines the page, can you access the widget and remove it there?

comment Spotify API: Create Radio Button from Temporary Playlist Not supported?
hey thanks this is perfect! I was trying to work around this by requiring them to submit the URI to one of their playlists, as I couldn't find any way to search that user's playlists by name. but this should do the trick!! thanks!
