comment How do I use pymongo to connect to an existing document collection/db?
Huh, someone recently bumped this Q I don't even remember asking. This was my first mongo question ever, apparently. I now do exactly this a billion times a day without even noticing at one time I didn't understand it...

Thanks, this was super helpful. Just getting started but it's really helpful to understand that the errors I was getting were very much not for the reason I expected (that I had introduced an incompatibility just needing an upgrade), but had several sources both prior to (Frames itself had a base requirement that looked like a cabal requirement!) and after the problem I thought I needed to address.

Or put differently? If this is no good, what should I uninstall to get a working haskell? I don't understand why cabal let me upgrade itself into a state so inconsistent I can't do anything. And how this happened in the service of installing a sandbox so that this kind of thing wouldn't happen, even. :)

Yep, I'm definitely on 14.04. How do I upgrade as you suggest? For instance, when I go here: https://www.haskell.org/platform/#linux-ubuntu and follow its instructions, it tells me haskell-platform is already the newest version.

Yep, it's correct in the config itself, and also specified redundantly in Des.config at call time.
