Bioinformatician, works with Perl and with Unix shell scripting, does MySQL. I entertain myself with pet C and C++ projects and with thinking about how to make the world a better place. Currently playing with ODBC and the Boehm garbage collector.
I try to encourage "the right tool for the job" approach, which usually means, for example, not trying to use regular expression for more than simple parsing, and to break down problems into sub-problems that are then solved individually (possibly using different tools).
