Binding by position results in a ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected - got CURSER error. I can't tell if that's a step closer, or a step further from a solution. Edit: I actually commented out the entire WHERE clause (see above) in the cursor statement to guarantee I should be getting something back.

No dice. No errors, but returnCursor.Value is still null. Trying ExecuteReader() still returns a reader with no rows.

How would I go about returning data back to the caller then? There's a good chance that's my problem. I've tried doing a RETURN rcursor; right after the OPEN... line, but that didn't seem to change anything.

comment Okay to store an exception in a variable to throw later?
Yeah, I realized that only the last one would be thrown; I'll have to see what the requirements are for the calling class (being developed by another individual), and whether they are concerned with actually knowing what specific exceptions occurred, or only that at least one exception did occur. Thanks!

Thanks for your quick response. The second link was especially helpful. While it did make sense to me that the whole path would be stored in the 'path' segment of the URI, I can see that Java does this somewhat inconsistently, so I'll make sure to watch out for that.
