Want to know if someone is a cowboy? Pretty simple: if they keep shouting out "regular expressions are bad, XML parsers are good" then you know they have almost no real experience in industry. Send them and their 10 gallon hats, boots, and spurs back on the high horses they came riding in on.

A good answer is one that a) answers the question asked, b) provides explanation behind the answer, and c) is delivered in a timely fashion.

Note that Python users, in particular, appear completely incapable of reading a question: that must come from the fact that they expect everything to appear in a particular format such that they've become unable to parse anything they're not already muttering in their heads. Python: just when you thought Visual Basic was bad along comes a file format calling itself a "language", ha!
