comment Use a shot list or not?
How specific are you in directing the model to these shots? Do you show them a sample, and say "try to be in this position"? Or is it more informal, allowing the model to add some personality on their own (so you'd say "I'd like a head shot at 1/4 profile, with some hair light; can you show me a that?")?

comment Is there a correct way to communicate with photography subjects e.g. models?
To what extent do you have a model shoot planned out before hand? Do you have every shot planned? Do you have general ideas, and expect yourself to fill in on-the-fly? Do you have general ideas, and expect the model to improvise from the generalizations? Do you just wing it?

comment Will stacked ND filters perform as well as a single 10 stop ND filter?
@jrista - good point. Here's my theory on how the picture was taken, then. This is pre-dawn or post-sunset blue hour picture (to get the stars). The flare in the middle isn't the sun, but a cluster of artificial lights that are together quite bright. The sharpness of the shadow in the foreground is cast by a flash in the water, to camera right. But even at that, it seems to me like there's still too much shadow in the greenery to the left.
