@Tallboy A few perfectly indexed select queries on primary keys are almost always better than any single JOIN query. Joins make the database work hard.

comment iPhone / iOS : Presenting HTML 5 Keyboard for Postal Codes
Sniffing the user-agent for iOS and using the type="number" input type is not a great option. type="number" is not meant for string values (like postal codes), and it has other side effects (like stripping leading zeros, comma delimiters, etc) that make it less than ideal for postal codes. Not to mention, sniffing user-agents makes for a brittle implementation.

comment iPhone: numeric keyboard for text input
There still isn't a great answer for postal codes. I re-asked this question specifically for international postal codes here: stackoverflow.com/questions/25425181/…

comment How to override the 'as_json' or 'to_json' method in order to 'respond_to' without including specified information?
It would be better to use options[:except] = Array(options[:except]) | [:password] if you wanted to guarantee that the :password could never be sent as json.

comment How to send raw post data in a Rails functional test?
In Rails 4, this is no longer necessary. If the second arg passed to post is a String, it will be treated as the RAW_POST_DATA. e.g. post :create, '{"foo": "bar", "bool": true}'

comment How to send raw post data in a Rails functional test?
Yup, you can take a look at the Rails source for post (which calls process). If the first arg after the action is a String, it will be read as RAW_POST_DATA.
