agilers.com

I am a founder of Agilers. I'm idealistic about software development and strongly believe in it as a craft with a bit of art.

I enjoy experimenting with all flavors of Agile and Lean practices. I really love to write software, read about software, think about it, and blog about it.

I am mostly a Java/Groovy developer but also a CEO which means also a product owner, marketer, accountant, and any other of those roles if required to run my business.

comment How to escalate Grails error from taglib or g:inculude to end on error page?
This way I would loose the exception information as I can serve rather static error page out of nginx or Apache, but still I think this would be the closest solution to what I seek. Thanks!

comment Grails - import jsch results in "package com.jcraft.jsch does not exist"
I think it might be the problem with jar file loaded from Maven repo: mvnrepository.com/artifact/com.jcraft/jsch looks like 0.1.43 was corrupt (3KB and only contains MET-INF). If you would try to fetch other version through BuildConfig it should work and is a better approach than having it in /lib dir

Hmm I don't want to end up with a half-empty page in case of some error. If there is some runtime exception that I don't catch explicitly I rather treat it as fatal and want to end up on error page.

comment What features every Agile software tool should have?
If you start looking for a tool, then you need to ask yourself what parts of your process need a tool. What do you want to solve. You can post such criteria here to get better recommendations. There are also sites that will give you more than those two options, like: userstories.com/products or bestvendor.com/best/project-management but of course this will only complicate your choice ;-)

comment How do I measure employee (software developer) performance based on bugs created?
+1 for @Lunivore answer and I would add one thing. The most interesting metric regarding bugs (IMHO) is the number of bugs that slipped into production. But... You should use it not to evaluate individuals but to spot problems in how the quality process works in your team. So think in which ways you can lower that number. You have lots of means: better tests, CI, training your devs, etc. Use it not to imply penalties but to improve.
