OK. I can do a PutAsync like this successfully on my own web API. If you can look at your request through Fiddler or some other method you should take a look at it. Maybe even take that request and put it through the composer of Fiddler to send the request by hand to make sure you're getting what you expect. If that still doesn't work I think you would have to look at your web API to see if there is a problem there that would be returning your bad request.

It's working in a dev environment but not outside of it? I would first look at write permissions for your NetworkService, IIS_IUSRS, or whatever user is doing the writing for your web API. You might want to look at your request in Fiddler to make sure your file looks OK on the way up.
