comment Modelling Kubernetes Custom Types Resources
Thanks for providing some clarity, I was also wondering if you knew what was the inspiration for the API design of Kubernetes api server (resourceVersion, metadata, spec/status, labels/annotations, watch interface, conditions..) as it seems a model that could be more agnostic in terms of use (not just container management)

comment How do you read from stdin in Python?
I suspect this is related to detection of tty in libc, so when you pipe it detects on a interactive shell it detects none tty, unbuffer from expect-dev is a handy util that I believe injects a shim via ld_preload so is_atty returns true (I suspect that's how it is handing it)

comment Postgresql Offset Behavior with json column
I have reported to pg-bugs and will wait to see what happens (its a moderated list), I'll leave this marked unanswered for a day or two incase for some odd reason it's by design.

Thanks for the tests. Just to add we are not using RoR, but Clojure, as many developers are now pushing Postgres as a NoSQL replacement (blogs, conferences, microbenchmarks) Im sure these scenarios will become more common across a multitude of stacks.

comment Postgresql Offset Behavior with json column
Someone asked (and then removed answer, possibly @Denis?) if a non-indexed-json field behaves the same. There is another non indexed field on the table called version (int not null) SELECT couchcontacts."version" FROM couchcontacts OFFSET 10000 LIMIT 10 returns in 14ms. vs blob->>'field' taking 4158ms - 12,000ms
