Although perhaps std::vector simply doesn't work with const members regardless: coliru.stacked-crooked.com/a/be481105c08150ca. Should be looked up in the standard to see whether this is an implementation bug.

@JRQ Strings in Ruby are always mutable, so you cannot. You can clone strings by sending dup or clone to them, like b = a.dup.
