He wanted to hide it in the browser. Yes it's an ASP.NET control, he wasn't asking for server-side code, he was asking for client-side visibility toggling. And yes, this code does work, it does hide the element in the browser. Drop it and move on mate.

@GonchuGolu perhaps you can tell me what jQuery has got to do with server-side processing? The OP asked about jQuery, which is client-side. The answer is also 4 years old (yup, 4 whole years. Quite a while eh?), which means things might have changed since the original question was answered. Feel free to invest time in a better answer, instead of complaining about existing ones, so people can learn and upvote. Perhaps then your karma will hit triple digits.
