comment Getting facet grid plot out of Pandas dataframe
Ahh This approximates what I'm looking for... needs a bit more fine tuning.. g = sns.FacetGrid(ngrpdf, col='CCS_Category_ICD9',hue='Gender', col_wrap=4) g= g.map(plt.scatter,"Admit_Month","count")

The second block of code renders all plots in a good layout but says it cannot interpeter "Admit_Month" The x+ ?? If I add data=ngrpdf after the y= argument, as the data source in the second line it says Facetgrid is not callable...

Ok, What about the second code block? where I'm trying to plot each ccs separately? (which is really what I'm after) I only included the 1st since it vaguely looked like what I'm trying to do for each one of the ccs codes separately?

Well the numbers are not consecutive so there are about 200 or so,, but the bigger point was that I was trying to get one plot per ccs code (in the second code block) eg 200 or so plots (bar) with the counts by gender and month of encounter...??

That sure did not do it! it flattened the graph into one multi coloured thin line! The second code block at least does one blank chart for each ccs code...

comment S3 to Google Cloud Storage using direct transfer (web interface)
One more note (personal confession) the early error could have been due to a file of the same name existing in the target G cloud storage bucket but given the error (AWS auth) I did not see it 1st so when I restarted from scratch I used another file name..

yes now working as expected.. The doc could be a bit clearer re file name vs bucket with regard to the filter but I had already tried that.. Oh well..

Damm, re-entered as before now says running... And by the way that gives me a job that I would be able to click on. The prior times never got that far,, maybe some sort of browser cache issue from prior failures?

Interestingly the Google web client has no method of specifying region, which I thought the AWS client wants? We are us- east..

comment Random sample reading from AWS S3 via Pandas?
was hoping to find some way of using something like>>> open_file_chunk_reader(filename, start_byte, size, callback) from boto3???

I get that but I believe (hope) that s3 exposes a sequential read method (not real sure though) hence the question,, for some things speed may not be too much of an issue.

comment How to change the order of DataFrame columns?
I really like the second method, but found that I had to do cols = [df.columns[-1]] +[col for col in df if col != df.columns[-1]] Note the additional brackets to make the 1st column a list as otherwise I got cannot concatenate a string and list..
