comment proposed bug: compiz delay in changing window focus
I have FFM set from before things got complicated (i.e., from metacity days). But running ccsm, I see that auto-raise is unset. Indeed, I don't want it to auto-raise, so this is good. While auto-raise delay is (suspiciously) 500, setting it to 10 doesn't change the focus delay.

comment Sum over unique tags in a range
That works, and thanks for the clear and detailed explanation. I made an auxiliary sheet ('criteria') in the workbook to store all the ranges and such and made all the item names be pointers to item names in the criteria page to avoid errors from typos spelling an item ('peear', oops). Many thanks!

comment Sum over unique tags in a range
Oh, that's nifty, thanks, that's almost it! But it's not quite what I want, because it modifies the original range (when called from the menu) or requires contiguous ranges (grouped by). But I want the original range to remain sorted by date and, in another sheet in my workbook, I want to see a summary by item, dynamic as more items get added to (or changed in) the original range.

I think you've answered your own question in 124815. gconftool and gconf-editor are two ways to access the same information (commandline and gui). To get emacs bindings, set the value for key /desktop/gnome/interface/gtk_key_theme to Emacs.

comment boost::test and verifying code is executed
This is an interesting and useful approach, thanks. In my simple case, I'm not sure it adds much beyond what I get from handling the count myself, but in slightly more complex scenarios I suspect it would be quite helpful. [Since it's a useful answer and the only answer after many weeks, I'm also accepting it.]
