comment Is there a way to ensure that a kernel module runs in a specific process context?
Got it, thanks! I was looking for a way to do this without having to modify the existing application, though adding an ioctl certainly is a viable route.

Nearly a year later, the new enclosure is still holding up. I would definitely say it was the power issue.

comment Sendmail shell script not working
@tamani sorry, I don't understand "no logging." Is it possible for you to get the output when cron executes the script? Many versions of cron will mail the user if the job fails.

Yes, it does. And now I know how to check for Type 1 too, thanks!

When you do that and compile to pdf, is it imported as a font of some sort or is it treated like a vector graphic? The IEEE rules state that we have to use type 1 fonts, but I'm unsure if this qualifies. Thanks and sorry for the confusion!

@cfr I was looking for a library that would have this sort of thing, not an ultraspecific one to solve my problem, but something that would be useful for this and similar cases. Many times when I try to do something I find that someone else has already figured it out, so I tried looking to see if that was the case. I couldn't find anything, so I thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

@tohecz I'm not exactly looking to swap a fancy arrow, I added some code to help add some context. I originally thought that a MWE wouldn't add much since I thought the answer would be more or less "try this package out."
