cannot convert between nested templated types thanks. I am not able to use python at this moment. I actually tried to copy this one from a java source. I now understand the problem, thanks to your simplification. any suggestion to alter my code? |

initialize std::map value when its key does not exist Andy, thanks for the answer. I guess the only solution for C++03 is the one you just mentioned. |

initialized pointers are not passed through constructor @Bill I am sorry, you are right. Johannes S: is also right. I tried to make a compilable sample and it actually worked. Now it made it more interesting. Now your first question may make more sense. why the way objects(like Broker) are created makes a difference?

passing a string variable to boost::ASIO reader/handlers sause seg fault oh, but the first async_read is not asio::async_read. in the 2 asio::async_reads I used char[] and vector<char> . I passed string to my own templated async_read to send it over the hops to the final handler, and then fill it up using vector<char>inbound_data_ . inbound_data_ actually gets data successfully(i just double checked). The problem is when I create a string out of this inbound_data and assign it to my original string, the program crash. Any other operation on the original string crashes too(in the last handler)
