comment WCF REST Service - Do Work with System.Threading.Tasks.Task
I will take a look at this for future reference. I'm limited to .NET Framework 4.5 at the moment so it wont work in this exact case. Thanks.

comment WCF REST Service - Do Work with System.Threading.Tasks.Task
I had considered this as a likely option. I didn't really want to add another service that has to intervene on top of the planned server side code, it would be nice to keep it in one location rather than spitting it away.

Does that give a guarantee that IIS wont bin the task or will it at least wait until the task has time to shutdown before exiting the application pool?

At which point are you getting the null reference exception. Can you post a stack trace?

comment Expandable List View Android Dropdown Alignment
Thanks for the help. I was able to bypass this issue by detecting the current version of android and sorting the alignment appropriately as per the version. I didn't really want the hassle of replacing the image on the list view as mentioned above, but it was my Plan B.

Updated question with further information. I didn't know if you wanted the layout info or the code initialisation?

Try taking a look at msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/data/jj574232.aspx#explicitFilter it gives some info on that type of filtering

When updating the model is "Include foreign key columns in the model" checked, are both projects targeting the same connection?

How did you add in your new relationship? Was it manually added or via "Update Model from Database"? Replicating your table design in EF 6.0, I don't seem to have the same issue, it quite happily adds in the navigation property.
