I wandered around various grad schools for ten years - expecting to take a degree in Math or Statistics and become a professor or High School Math teacher. One beautiful autumn day at the start of a new semester, I realized that doing software was the only reasonable career path for me. It's the only thing I was/am tolerably good at. I dropped out the next day, moved out to California and took a job doing software in Silicon Valley. I've been here ever since. No regrets.
