comment Reference for Gödel strings having multiple interpretations
I'm looking at this from the point of information theory. It is reasonably intuitive that there are multiple possible mappings but I am specifically looking for a reference for where this was formally mentioned. In information theory a code is meaningless without an interpreter, and I am looking for a rigorous statement to this effect, that the meaning of a string depends upon the formal system that does the interpreting. I seem to recall reading about this in a discussion of Godel's theorem. It may have been mentioned in Penrose's "Emporer's New Mind.

The type error in those two lines is because you need to add Linear to setRangeFromData XAxis Lower Linear and setRange YAxis Lower Linear (-1.25) (1.25). Apologies, I did not update the example file when the API changed.

As for the second problem, how to quit nicely, Graphics.Rendering.Plot.Gtk is for interactive display through GHCi and you would destroy the window using destroy figure. If you want to incorporate the plot in a standalone executable then use Graphics.UI.Gtk.Plot.plotNew and onDestroy. See the source for destroy to see how to get the window to pass to onDestroy.

@user2407038: I think that atan2 (fst dir) (snd dir) is uncurry atan2 dir. Note that atan2 takes snd first, not fst.
