The result of the last command is bound to the variable it. You can writeFile "filename.txt" it. Or writefile "filename.txt" $ <statement>.

cmat and fmat can be found in Data.Packed.Development and let x = cmat $ trans $ fromLists [[1,2,3,4,5], [1,1,1,1,1]] works.

Arg, cmat and fmat are not exposed.

comment ghc issue with hmatrix
The documentation in Data.Packed.Internal.Matrix of the hmatrix package seems to suggest that it is up to the programmer to ensure the matrix is in the desired transposition state (using cmat and fmat). (I'm the author of hmatrix-gsl-stats).

comment How do you make a functor instance of Matrix and Vector from hmatrix library?
I believe this answer is incorrect. As pointed out by @ConradParker, there is a Storable constraint on the Vector version. So the instance Functor Vector where declaration will not compile. See @AlbertoRuiz's answer.

It might make more sense to bind saving the file then loading to C-c C-l rather than loading the file every time you save it.
