One word for limited or piecemeal benefit Belief has merit. I also considered "betterment" but it doesn't quite cut the mustard. I'm happy to forgo the alliteration if the word is particularly cool. |

The influence of a potentiometer on photo-diode bias those screw potentiometers are called "trim pots" by those who pretend they know what they're talking about (me too!) |

What does the term "bias" mean? not +1+6 = 7 and +1-6 = -5? confused by your peak-to-peak term... |

leds in parallel, switched with NPN transistors @AnindoGhosh I've bitten the bullet and gone for the SMD option! Above you say "and a 10 kOhm resistor for pull-down from Gate to Source" -- i am not following this -- is my circuit diagram above ok (apart from BJTs instead of MOSFETs)? What resistor settings should I use where? |

Microcontrollers - Beginner questions -1 for the arduino slate. For those who are more interested in software and "maker" type stuff, like artists, etc, there is nothing at all wrong with not learning all the intricacies of MCU architectures, complex physical circuitry etc. Some hobbyists are software-centric, some hardware-, some both, some just want something to work with minimal effort/understanding. There is nothing wrong with hacking someone elses code to get something working fast, even if you don't understand it all. |

How many shields can I plug into Arduino? Definitely look at these go-between shields! very cool for lots of stacking... I've successfully stacked 4. sparkfun.com/products/11002 |

leds in parallel, switched with NPN transistors :( hrm... looks like I'm out of options then...b*gger! unless there's a DIP IC package that might do the trick with an array of FETs in it... back to google... thanks again for all your help @AnindoGhosh!! |

leds in parallel, switched with NPN transistors I found this little part, which looks interesting... what are your thoughts on this one? datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/siemens/BSS88.pdf |

leds in parallel, switched with NPN transistors @AnindoGhosh - thanks again. So can you recommend a non-SMD MOSFET that'll do the job? I'm working on perfboard and am still pretty nervous about SMD soldering. |
