comment Windows installation media cant detect keyboard and mouse
I also have a MSI board (Z170A PC MATE) and this solution almost worked. I had to disable XHCI Hand-off and Legacy USB Support under Settings/Advanced/Usb Configuration along with enabling Windows 7 installation under Settings/Advanced/Windows OS Configuration in the BIOS.

comment Server performance abysmal, should mysql have many instances running?
David, my understanding of htop is green bars indicate used memory pages, blue is buffered, and yellow is cache. My memory bar is all green, I'm assuming that means all memory is actively used... Does that not mean my system is under pressure?

Michael, it is OpenVZ. I guess that explains when I do a free -m there is no swap space setup.

comment Unable to create table in MySQL using Doctrine and Symfony2
I ran into an issue when I executed the schema update command, doctrine told me the join table (AssignedItems in this example) already existed. I used the ManyToMany annotations in the Doctrine examples on just one table. I broke apart Doctrine code to ManyToOne like this example shows and Doctrine no longer complained. Thank you!

comment How do I setup up Doctrine's Class Inheritance in Symfony?
The DiscriminatorColumn is the key which in this case would be a value of model, part or option correct? So I need to create a column in the product table that will contain one of those 3 values. I still don't understand what is used to join the tables. How does doctrine know to link the ids between the product and model entity if I remove the $id property....? Wouldn't I still need to do something like where product.product_id = model.product_id?

Models, parts and options are all products that can be sold individually. They share over twenty attributes such as dimensions, cost, etc.
