Revised answer, sounds like you're just not used to this way of doing dialogs.

Yes, you would do that in the onClick method.

newtext is getting set when they press OK, but you're not doing anything with that variable so you're not going to see it. Maybe put it in a toast to confirm it's working, or debug it to see for yourself.

Maybe you need to modify the question. There is no "check to see if the user pressed ok." You just execute the code in the listener when they press ok. It doesn't get executed until they press ok.

Yeah, I copied and pasted what you had there. It seems to me that the ActionMode part and the Toolbar are completely separate. The Toolbar looks great because of ThemeOverlay.AppCompat.Dark.ActionBar, but it doesn't seem to carry over when it flips to the ActionMode.

Unfortunately, those styles are essentially the same as what I already have. Theme.AppCompat.Light.NoActionBar only adds things I already had in the style and the Dark.ActionBar theme for the Toolbar doesn't change anything. When I tried what you have there I get the same result I originally had.

I've already themed the toolbar, and I'll add my toolbar declaration to the question. Setting the popupTheme doesn't seem to have any effect. I've tried app.popupTheme as well as android:popupTheme.

I was looking for a min and max screen values with multiple monitors and the GraphicsConfiguration Javadoc example (with a couple of small calculations) gave me exactly what I needed. Thanks!
