Thanks, David. In this case, based on the above two answers, letting stakeholders know that the road isn't going to be an easy is an action item. Unlike PMs, everyone else assumes that things will "always" go according to plan. So when it doesn't, the PM takes the hit for it as they are considered custodians of the crystal ball.

I agree. Gamification works with colleagues when it isn't attached to a specific work task (for instance, beer night where work isn't the topic of discussion). During work, trying to incorporate a "fun" activity has always backfired. We tried it a few months ago and the results were dismal.
