I may try monkeying with the internals of `plot_trisurf` and `tri.setmask` to improve this. Based on that answer you shared in the comment, "it is because those triangles are contained within the convex hull of your points projection on the x,y plane." -- I need to change that. I went to a larger dataset, and it's drawing connections all over the place (imagine a ball, but instead of being a sphere, it was chopped up, with triangles cutting from the top hemisphere to the bottom hemisphere).
