comment Why do some .obj files have no newlines?
The tutorial code probably assumes you are in the USA and using Windows.

dunno, perhaps it uses system default filestream commands. whatever it doesn't matter now, thanks for crossing off that possibility

What OS does your friend use? Different operating systems use different newline characters, and it's possible that is causing the issue.

comment How is good is Java as a language for browser based mmo games?
I mean, this question is a bad fit here anyway because "which tech to use", but you should specify that in (better) future questions.

From the comment about comparing to PHP it sounds like you mean Java for the server side component of your game. That is a completely different matter from the client side of the game, so you should specify what you mean.

And that includes if the root cause was a bug in GameMaker; don't just assume that, you want to check and know that.

comment Java: Creating a class using array
I'm not that familiar with Java data types, but why are you asking about array specifically? This sounds more like a job for a dictionary type.

comment Is there a game not using meshes for models?
At GDC over a decade ago (in 2001 I think) I saw a presentation by the developers of some nature themed game full of wildlife that used splines so that geometry detail would scale as the camera zoomed in and out. I don't remember the name of the game though, sorry.

The phrasing sure, but that's why he included a diagram. The diagram makes it pretty clear what kind of obstacles he's talking about.

comment How to play animations (GIF, SWF... )?
er, if that seems like a lot of work then I'm not sure you should be trying to develop a game. I mean, you can avoid that specific task by using a framework that already has spritesheet animations in it, but even then you're in for months of other tasks.

comment In The Walking Dead....why aren't there more children zombies?
It's pretty clear that they don't need to eat, they are just driven to. For example, note all the instances of zombies being encountered after a long period of isolation.
