I think I am addicted to programming. At times I just can't stop. At those moments I have an urge to work on a certain project. This feeling fades away though, afterwards I can resist it again for a couple of months. Do not tell my friends though. To them I am 'the rower guy'. They don't question my 'half-yearly' disappearances.

PS: I hate libraries. Programming that is, I love the real ones, big ones, with interesting things everywhere.

I've learned from my faults. Still useful code.

comment Preserve original formatting in HTML when parsing with PHP DOM functions
Have you found a solution for this? I am considering doing risky things with preg_match_all() and substr_replace(), just to keep the formatting the same ;)

No I can't. It is not the answer. I'll upvote for helping me.

Thank you. I now understand how (?<tag>) etc. works. I am able to call these in the replacement string. Therefore I am now capturing prefix and suffix: (?<prefix><(?<tag>\w*)\sclass=\"lent-editable\">)(?<text>.*)(?<suffix></\k<tag>>)

Thanks! Will do that definitely. Your regex doesn't match tag with multiple classes, how should I adapt it to match class="otherclass classToMatch perhapsmore" and what if the tag has an atribute beween class and the closing '>'(containing multiple classes)

Wow, that is a step forward already :D Yet it now replaces the whole tag and not just its innerHTML. Also, could you perhaps explain a little bit how it works? Especially how the parts within <> work.

Explaining the origin of the class markers. They're just a way to mark the elements in the source, like lightbox does.
