Sorting algorithms already present It doesn't look like you actually want a sorting algorithm; but something which will determine to "shortest path" to sort a set. Most sorting algorithms are based on working well in the average case -- this isn't going to do that because it's more about solving a specific problem (get me the steps for the shortest sequence that does this) than sorting the dataset. I'm not saying such an algorithm doesn't exist (though I don't know of one), but if it did.. I don't think we'd call it a sorting algorithm. |
