Started in the field of Data Processing when I joined the Air Force in 1961 where we wired boards and used punched cards for producing flight line reports. After getting out of the Air Force I went to work for Standard Oil/ Chevron Research and it was there we got the first transistorized machine in California. Memory size was 8k (yes 8k not 8meg) with 4 tape drives. Programmed this in Autocoder and needless to say you had to be very stingy with your code.
