I am passionate about programming in general and interpreted languages in particular. Like most programmers, I have strong opinions on the technology I use. XML and regular expressions are both Good, but too often used when there are other tools better-suited to the task at hand. I have an intense (and largely irrational) dislike for Perl — yes, there is more than one way to do it; no, that doesn't mean all ways are equally good, nor does it excuse bizarre syntax or magic, global variables. I'm more of a "one, and preferably only one, obvious way to do it" kind of guy.

When not programming, I enjoy playing video games and doing video-game-related data analysis and writing video-game-related programs. Kinda hopeless, aren't I?
