What are the versions of all of the packages you are using? Can you update the question with that?

comment SignalR Self Host on Ubuntu Server error
What version of each dependency are you using? Looks like you have SignalR 1.0 and 2.0 binaries mixed in your application.

comment SignalR HttpContext.Current null in IIS 8.0
Yea, don't use HttpContext.Current. If you need to MapPath you can use HostingEnvironment.MapPath (assuming you are in an ASP.NET application)

comment How do implement a SignalR heartbeat/ping betweeen ASP.NET and Windows Server service?
There's no example because it's not for you. It's an implementation detail. We send keep alives from the server to the client.

comment How to use custom media type formatter for signalr message content?
Yes, SignalR knows nothing about media type formatters or content negotiation (it's not a REST framework). Those types are specific to HttpClient and WebAPI. SignalR is neither of those.

comment How to use custom media type formatter for signalr message content?
Simple answer, you don't. You're mixing 2 differnet frameworks. SignalR is JSON and JSON alone.

Great. If you're 100% aware of the implications then that's fine.

comment SignalR connection lost when android device sleeps
Seems like a terrible idea. Especially since you'll never raise disconnect on the server (only after 3 hours). Since the server isn't cleaning up connections, you could easily flood it and it would run out of memory.

comment When is the signalr hub constructor called?
Even more than that. Once per invocation which can be more than per request (in the case of websockets)

comment Is SignalR 1.2.0 a drop in replacement for 1.1.4?
Are you sure you don't have stuff from an old deployment hanging around. You don't have to register a new assembly locator.
