Alma Rahat

Exeter, United Kingdom

I graduated with a BEng (First Class Hons.) in Electronic Engineering from the University of Southampton in 2011. During my time in Southampton, I have conducted research on controlling a bicycle using reinforcement learning as a summer intern with Professor Mahesan Niranjan. In my final year project, I have worked on using computer vision in stitching 3D structures with Professor Mark Nixon. After graduation, I worked as a Product Development Engineer in Electron Dynamics Ltd., developing real-time and embedded systems. I joined University of Exeter as a KTP Associate (Developer) in February, 2012. As a KTP Associate, I have developed an energy efficient wireless sensor mesh network system, working with Professor Richard Everson, Dr Jonathan Fieldsend, and the IMC Group Ltd. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, and my research topic is Multi-Objective Optimisation of Low Power Wireless Sensor Mesh Networks.

Research Interest:

My main research area is Multi-Objective Optimisation using Evolutionary Algorithms. Alongside, I have a keen interest in Pattern Recognition, Neuroinformatics, Reinforcement Learning and Autonomous Systems.
