comment g_object_unref() member pointer of C++ Glib::Object sub-class in destructor?
The answer is in fact not correct for my particular case, but I think it answers the question correctly in the general case. I should probably do a g_object_ref() in the constructor (and then unref() in the desctructor) for my case.

You can also access the C object directly by using the ->gobj() member of a Gtk C++ class object. And in that way use the C API intermixed with the C++ wrapper (developer.gnome.org/gtkmm-tutorial/stable/…).
