1d comment Meaning of intercept in multinomial regression with binary predictors?@PeterFlom Oh yeah I remember that paper. You posted it on Quora. I think it is time to come up with a paper with R code. I might do that. I will include you answer in my blog post on multinom logit in R. You could leave the example with continuous variable, so your answer would be complete in every way. Thanks. Apr 11 comment Assesing the goodness of fit for the multinomial logit in R with the nnet package...significance for coefficients of each age group. I can update the question and add the output of my multinom call if you are open to pursuing this question further. Apr 11 comment Assesing the goodness of fit for the multinomial logit in R with the nnet packageI will accept your answer. But, I probably had to mention, all my variables are categorical. For example, I have a variable Agegroup with 5 age groups(categories). This leads to having 5 dummy variables in the model, ex.g. `multinom(EmploymentStatus ~ Agegroup,...)`. The formula in the call is equivalent to `EmploymentStatus = Agegroup1 + Agegroup2 + Agegroup3 + Agegroup 4 + Agegroup5`. The multinom call gives me output with coefficients for an intercept and each age group. Using your suggestion I get the significance for Agegroup variable in the multinom call, but not the... However, I need to calculate the likelihood ratio stat for each coefficient which I do not know how to.
