comment incremental select using id from SQLite in Twisted
That works. However I found the following example in the API documents -def getAge(user): return dbpool.runQuery("SELECT age FROM users WHERE name = ?", user)--so why does this work even though its not a tuple? link is:(twistedmatrix.com/documents/current/core/howto/rdbms.htm) --

Jean-Paul, I modified the sql statement to get one line at a time form the DB but have found another problem, which is rather odd. I have shown all details in the edit section in the original post. I checked all API documents but can find no reason for this. Any ideas?

Thanks so much for setting me straight and for taking the time to explain how to use the methods in Twisted. That's a very nice and elegant solution. Thanks!

Further to my previous reply, it does seem to make a difference that I am trying to send the data to another server rather than a client. I tried creating a factory.serverconnections[] in the ServerProtocol above and then use it in the ClientProtocol so that I could pass the data from the external client connection and out to the external server connection but I got the error that the list was not recognized in the latter. I will keep trying but if you can see the obvious error in my ways please point it out.

Thank you for the reference. I am trying to adapt it to my program (which you actually posted a while ago). However, I should mention that the outgoing connection is actually to a server. Perhaps this should not make any difference but I thought I should point this out. Many thanks.

That is a good idea. I think that is the best way to go. Thanks again for your time and help.

comment Using Twisted AMP with Database insertion
Correction - the errBack onInsertError does get called but the problem is that I have to use a amp.Boolean() for the response in the Insert(amp.Command) class to respond with a True for the dF when there is a successful insert. But when the error is raised in onInsertError the error is not sent back to the client if I am using the amp.Boolean() but only if I use amp.Integer() but of course this will not work on success. I tried using an error response in the Insert(amp.Command) class but it does not recognize the sqlite errors. Other than this the program works.

comment Interfacing Twisted to other applications
I looked at the first three options you mention and really like ZeroMQ but for various reasons I am trying to limit the number of applications I am running. My high data throughput might not be appropriate for HTTP (perhaps I could use websockets). AMP and PB offer built-in solutions so I am looking into both. I appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.
