I have developed many open source based application over the years and have become most proficient in C++ and JavaScript. I prefer working in Linux with the core Ubuntu flavor.

I enjoy traveling with my wife around the world. Scuba diving is one of my favorite activities along with Frisbee Golf. I love the outdoors just as much as my geeky passions for technology.

comment Determing if string has all unique characters
You can also speed things up every so often if you do a check for the character maps number of values. s.length() > 128 for ascii or even Unicode (probably unrealistic to check) if you know what version.

comment How do I get Gmail contacts using JavaScript?
Perfectly good way. I would suggest using the Google native library (not browser centric) to get authorization and using jqery's $.get() method.

comment Dual boot Surface Pro with Ubuntu?
@A.Donda If the type cover doesn't connect on boot, disconnect it and reconnect it and press some key and mess around with the mouse pad to lets Ubuntu know it is there and the HUD profile is loaded, you'll see the mouse appear when it is reconnected. As far as version I may suggest sticking with the LTS because I just upgraded to 15.04 and there are kernel issues and a new menu generated for grub that separates Upstart process to a separate boot option and default to no Upstart.

comment Dual boot Surface Pro with Ubuntu?
@A.Donda I believe it is very usable. I am doing all of my graduate work from mine and I am developing a SaaS system providing a questionnaire application providing analytics and a developer portal. In addition you can always install from windows but you loose some of the speed but it really isn't that big of deal unless you rarely work in Windows (convenience of boot to Ubuntu). Otherwise it is great hardware.

comment Installing the latest Node.js / MongoDB?
@EngineerDollery Okay definitely not then. But this is good info for those who want to start focusing on ES6 development in node. I will try and update the answer with your suggestion.
