comment Find out whether the current activity will be task root eventually, after pending finishing activities have disappeared
You could check the value in onPostResume(). developer.android.com/reference/android/app/…() I'm not sure if it will be any different, though.

comment android 4.0, text on the action bar NEVER shows
This approach is pretty straightforward but it's tricky to get the styling just right. I found the style attributes that are used in ABS so it is identical to the native styling. I put it into this gist in case anybody else finds it useful: gist.github.com/marczych/6908324

Sorry about that, I meant GridView instead of GridLayout. Yes you can use a GridView if it's not full screen. You can position and size it just like any other view and all of its children will fill the entire GridView.

comment Swipe to switch tabs on Android, like the YouTube/Google Music apps
A comment at the top of Workspace.java: "ATTENTION: Consider using the 'ViewPager' widget, available in the Android Compatibility Package, r3." It would be nice to see an example of using the ViewPager with ActionBar tabs.

comment How to setOnTouchListener for an item in a ListView
I've had problems with touch events before and the issue was that the parent view was stealing them so the child never saw them. So in your case the ListView is stealing the touch events so the ListView elements never get them. Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions for how to fix it.

comment How to make git mark a deleted and a new file as a file move?
Something that hung me up for a few minutes: if the renamed files and deleted files are not staged for committing then they will show up as a delete and a new file. Once you add them to the staging index it will recognize it as a rename.
