Make/take a photograph? Both "take a photograph" and "make a photograph" are used in English, though the former is far more common among the general public. A discussion of the distinction: photo.stackexchange.com/questions/5936/… |

How do they come up with focal lengths for lenses? There was also the Topcor 58mm f/1.4, which I think was reincarnated as the Voigtlander Nokton 58mm. |

Why does the red area in this photo look very un-natural? @DarkcatStudios, in Lightroom (and so I would presume ACR as well), I would start by going to the HSL panel and decreasing the red luminance (and maybe saturation). |

Why does the red area in this photo look very un-natural? @BartArondson: That's fluorescence, the property of absorbing high-energy photons and re-emitting them as lower-energy (longer wavelength) photons. In a fluorescent light bulb, for example, the coating converts UV light into the visible range. DayGlo paints work similarly. |

Does this RGB-patterned reflector have benefits for digital photography? Depending on the dyes they use, their pattern could suppress the reflection of yellow and blue-green light that would pass through two Bayer filters (R+G or G+B). This would differ from a true gray reflector. But I'm having trouble visualizing the effect, and I'm not convinced it would be beneficial. |

What do you take on a hike as a landscape photographer? "Landscapes are by definition in the open, which usually means plenty of light." Except a lot of great landscapes are taken at the edge of darkness (dawn/dusk), and you may need a fairly small aperture for "here-to-infinity" DoF. Carrying a tripod sucks, but I would not dismiss it so easily. |
