comment Django Rest Framework 3.1.1 setting status success and failure based on validation errors
What stack and library are they using to access the REST API? You might be better off giving them a code snippet that shows them how to read HTTP response headers. Anyways. Good luck!

I think you're misunderstanding a fundamental tenant of REST. That kind of status field is captured in the HTTP response header. Namely the status code field of the response header. e.g. 200 for "OK", 201 for "Created", 400 for "Bad Request", et c.

comment select_related queryset with ModelSerializer in Django rest framework
I use it on ForeignKeys, ManyToMany, and inferred other-model related_name fields. In debug mode, I print out all my sql queries. When I used prefetch_related then all my tiny little one-entry requests on other models go away. It only does one query on the related FK'd models with a large number of ids.

Well. I'd recommend Django Rest Framework with AngularJS. Basically, your AngularJS app is completely standalone and your Django backend is a glorified database wrapper. Then, when AngularJS needs content from the database, you do ajax requests ($http.get(), $http.post(), et c.) It creates a very strong front-end/back-end separation. Since you only talk to the backend via the ajax calls, it opens up the possibility of implementing other front-end clients. iOS, Android, desktop, arduino ( one of my systems really does have arduino sensors that do HTTP POST's to update the server.

Not an answer: Have you considered disassociating AngularJS from django and not serving up angularjs inside of Django templates? Decoupling is the bees knees of maintainable software engineering. Then you can host your angularjs files as static files.
