Second, could you clarify what your intention is when you say you want to change the permissions of all files and folders? Do you want all files to be user-writeable (which I would advice very strongly against), or do you simply want to share files between different users of the system? |

Ubuntu says 13.04 but lsb_release says 12.10 The package is from ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3, not the quantal repositories. You can get it back to normal if you want by running sudo apt-get install ppa-purge and sudo ppa-purge ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3. Any updates from that PPA will be reverted - make sure that is what you want to do beforehand.
