comment How should my SPF record be set up, or is it even necessary?
Perfect, thanks! I ended up having to mess around with different ways of entered that into my host; it kept removing spaces in the text string. I finally had to escape each space "\" for it to work.

comment Pyramid data exchange between templates and views
When do you get the error? When initially loading the page or on execution of the javascript snippet? If you're initially going to your page, you might need a check first if request.method == 'POST': because on just browsing to the page it would be a GET and there wouldn't be a request.POST['data'] available...

What does your login routine look like? Is it based on the Pyramid tutorials on the project site? Your log.debug statements above - what is their output?

comment Reraising an exception as an HTTP error in Pyramid
Have you taken a look at Pyramid's exception views? I've used those for capturing and returning specific errors, although I haven't run into authorization errors in doing so.

Thanks for the comment! I actually created a question with more details (meta.stackoverflow.com/q/281337/278763), but it looks like it's probably my corporate firewall blocking something. I'm not sure yet what to request of our admins to change, but that explains it.

comment What is the difference between karaf running as a service via wrapper and running from console as same user?
Thank you for pointing me to the resource behind the wrapper! I went through the documentation and I ended up just needing to copy my dll into the lib\ folder under my karaf installation. After that everything seems to be working as expected.
