Join the Stack Exchange team!
In April, 2010, the original Stack Exchange team got together to figure out a mission for the company. Here's what we came up with:
Make the Internet a better place to get expert answers to your questions.
We've already done that for programming questions (with Stack Overflow), but there are a million other fields that need a similar community and we're on track to build them all. We've already got amazing sites for computer programmers, system administrators, video gamers, mathematicians, photographers and tons of others. We even help people find amazing new jobs, backed by the credibility that they've built up on our system.
We've done some amazing work, but we need your help to keep growing and reach all our goals.
Of course, even the greatest mission can suck if you don't have a fun place to work on it. Fortunately, we've already solved that problem too. Not only do we have an amazingly talented team, free lunches and top-notch benefits, but our CEO, Joel Spolsky, has literally written the book on how to make great workplaces for building amazing software. We have the best working conditions and benefits of any startup in New York. We have the best investors in New York. And we're building the best Q&A site on the Internet, bar none: a network where experts help each other with their problems, without a single teenager discussing, um, reproductive sciences.
- 20 days vacation (25 for UK employees)
- ridiculous health insurance and retirement plans (US & UK)
- free catered lunch (if you work in one of our offices)
- insanely great workstations, chairs, and desks
- free monthly metrocards (NYC)
- gym membership reimbursement
- flexible hours
- employees will never be poked with a sharp stick
Oh Yeah, and …
